Who we are and why we are here

The idea behind this blog was to give the students from the Rosebud Indian Reservation and its surrounding communities a chance to share their voice with the world. The towns out here are so isolated and the distances so vast that is easy to forget there is a world outside of here. It is my hope that this will help remind them that there is. The writers are students in a 9th grade journalism class and almost all are Sicangu Lakota Oyate, one of the seven bands of the Lakota Nation. I plan to stay out of their way as much as possible and just allow them to tell you about their young lives out here on the prairie.
